Important Information
Contacting the Teacher
The easiest way to reach me during the school day is by email. However, if it's urgent, please contact the office. I can also be reached by phone and will return the call within 24 hours- hopefully much sooner! My email address is [email protected] . Please provide me with your preferred email address if you'd like to get periodic emails celebrating the successes of your child in our class.

Student Responsibilities
Students will...
Positive Behavior Support
Students will work together as a class group to fill our class marble chart as quickly as possible. Students will earn marbles when they are caught being responsible, respectful, or positive. They may also earn marbles when I see them reach a challenging goal they set. The children will work as a team to fill the marble jar! When the jar is filled, our class will celebrate with a thirty minute marble party. Students will plan their own party which may include extra recess, games, or technology time (I added a Wii to our room this year). All students in attendance on the day of the party will be included because we are a 4th grade family.
Repairing Harm
Children are not perfect and there are times when choices will be made that cause harm to our classroom family and the learning environment. When this happens, your child will be supported and when they are calm and ready, a life space interview will be conducted which is where your child has the opportunity to share what happened, how they felt, and what they would like to try next time to prevent the situation from happening again. I do my best to keep them in the classroom where learning can take place.
Grading
Your child will receive a progress report quarterly with updates on their progress towards goals. In addition, you will also receive many updates throughout the year when mini goals are met!
Homework
The children will not have formal homework in my class. They've worked hard at school so relax and have fun together as a family. Read, play games, and spend time outside together. After school is your time!

Teacher Responsibilities
I will...
- Provide students with fun, research-based instruction aligned with their individual goals. There will be countless gross motor learning games and outdoor activities. While I may, at times, help children with homework and classwork, the primary goal is to catch them up to grade level expectations and help them meet the goals developed as a team at their most recent individualized education planning meeting.
- Support students in believing in themselves and reaching their individual goals. I will also help your child to develop goal setting skills by assisting them in the writing of short and long-term goals. Fourth Grade is not too young for goal setting!
- Respect students at all times. I will not embarrass students in front of their peers and if we need to have a conversation regarding classroom success, it will be done privately. My job is to help students see that they can do whatever they set their minds to- because they can! Each student is important to me and I value them!
Student Responsibilities
Students will...
- Be respectful! That includes respecting themselves and others. Every day students will review individual goals and determine how to make progress on them. Students should respect others too! Everyone has days when it's easy to come to school/work and days when it's difficult, but students do not have the right to take the opportunity to learn away from other scholars. If they are having an "off" day, please have them let me know and we can figure out a plan. No big deal!
- Be safe! We are safe with our bodies, our thoughts, and our words.
- Go with the plan! We will follow our schedule or make a choice.
